šŸ’ Predators Open 2025-26 Season at Bridgestone Arena

The NHL season officially dropped the puck Tuesday night, marking the start of the league’s 109th campaign. The Nashville Predators will make their season debut Thursday, October 9, hosting the Columbus Blue Jackets at Bridgestone Arena.

League-wide, this year’s Stanley Cup race is considered wide open, though early favorites include the Vegas Golden Knights, Edmonton Oilers, and Colorado Avalanche. The back-to-back champion Florida Panthers enter the season without captain Aleksander Barkov, who’s recovering from knee surgery.

For the Predators, the goal is a bounce-back season after a challenging 2024-25 campaign. Captain Roman Josi returns healthy after managing a POTS diagnosis in the offseason, while young forward Luke Evangelista signed a new two-year deal and is expected to play a larger offensive role. Defenseman Andreas Englund also re-signed to bolster depth.

Oddsmakers currently peg the Preds at +10,000 odds to win the Stanley Cup — a long shot, for sure, but not quite as low as the Titans’ odds at +20,000 to win the Super Bowl.

Hey, at least we’ve got Nashville SC, who just captured the 2025 U.S. Open Cup. So if our hockey or football teams aren’t performing well, we can say we’re a soccer town.

āœˆļø Flights Return to Normal at Nashville International Airport

After a day of widespread delays, operations at Nashville International Airport (BNA) returned to normal Wednesday morning following temporary staffing shortages at the Federal Aviation Administration’s Air Traffic Control Facility.

The FAA notified the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority (MNAA) at 6:40 a.m. on Oct. 8 that staffing levels had been restored and no further disruptions were expected. The previous day’s shortages — described by the FAA as the result of ā€œunexpected call outsā€ — led to a reduction in flight operations beginning around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.

In total, BNA recorded 678 commercial operations Tuesday, including 339 departures and 339 arrivals. Of those, 263 flights were delayed, impacting an estimated 39,450 passengers. Most delays occurred after 1:30 p.m., though airlines were informed promptly to adjust schedules.

As of Wednesday, all flights were operating on normal schedules, and MNAA says it will continue monitoring FAA staffing levels closely.
