Franklin Rodeo Next Week
The Franklin Rodeo returns next week for the 74th year, May 15 - 17. Since 1949, cowboys and cowgirls have stampeded to Franklin, Tennessee, each May to take part in what is proudly billed as the largest rodeo east of the Mississippi. The Franklin Rodeo, presented by the Franklin Noon Rotary Club, has become a cherished tradition, celebrating over seven decades of excitement and community impact.
Over the past seven decades, the Franklin Rodeo has generated over millions of dollars to support community causes. These funds have provided everything from college scholarships to medical care, making a lasting impact on countless lives.
Longtime Rotarian Jim Hayes believes the rodeo is more than just an eventāitās part of the fabric of the Franklin community. āWe were an agrarian community, we were farm-oriented, and for rodeo week, it became the main thing we did and the biggest event to happen in Franklin year-round.ā While Williamson County has since grown exponentially and shifted away from its agricultural roots, the rodeo remains a beloved Franklin tradition, connecting past and present.
There will be rodeo competition events, a rodeo clown, kids events, and specialty acts. Almost 20,000 people attend each year. You can get tickets here!
The Franklin Rodeo Parade will take place this Saturday at 12pm.
Franklin Farmers Market Relocation
At the end of the year, the Franklin Farmers Market will relocate from The Factory to Franklin First United Methodist Church (FFUMC) Main Campus, at the corner of Franklin Road and Mack Hatcher Parkway. But for the peak growing months, hours are being expanded to 8 am to 12pm every Saturday at The Factory at Franklin.
As part of their long-term plan, the Franklin Farmers Market is leading a fundraising campaign for a new pavilion and restrooms to be built on the FUMC campus. Donations are welcome at www.movewiththemarket.com.
Meanwhile, major improvements continue to be implemented at The Factory as part of its master plan, with a boutique hotel and parking garage project set to bring more than 200 new parking spaces to that campus.
From the Franklin PD
The Franklin Police Department has been made aware of scammers impersonating law enforcement officers ā even using the names of real people associated with local agencies. These scammers may call claiming you owe money or have a warrant. Do not fall for it. The Franklin Police Department will NEVER ask you to pay money over the phone. If you get a call like this, hang up and report it. Stay alert. Stay safe.
