Police on High Alert, Franklin Christmas Event

Your guide to staying connected in Franklin, TN
Happy Thursday Franklin. Halloween is tomorrow. Here is a little history for you:
đ Halloweenâs origins trace back over 2,000 years to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, when people lit bonfires and wore costumes to ward off ghosts as summer ended and winter began.
đ The name âHalloweenâ comes from âAll Hallowsâ Eveâ â the night before All Saintsâ Day, a Christian holiday established to honor saints and martyrs
đ Early Christians in Europe often redeemed or re-framed local pagan festivals, blending them with Christian meaning â in this case, turning Samhain (a Celtic harvest festival about death and spirits) into a time to remember the hope of eternal life.
đ Trick-or-treating began in the U.S. in the 1920sâ30s, inspired by European âsoulingâ traditions (where kids went door-to-door asking for food or coins).
đ Americans now spend over $12 billion on Halloween, making it the second-largest commercial holiday after Christmas.
đ The pumpkin didnât start in America â the original jack-oâ-lanterns were carved from turnips in Ireland!
đ The most popular candy in Tennessee last year? Reeseâs Cups.

đ The Inaugural âA Franklin Christmasâ Event
The Circle of Giving invites the community to celebrate the magic of the holiday season at the inaugural âA Franklin Christmas,â presented by The Circle of Giving with Steven Curtis Chapman & Friends, on Monday, Dec. 15, 2025, at Liberty Hall in The Factory at Franklin. Tickets are available for purchase online via Eventbrite. Guests are encouraged to reserve tickets early, as seating is limited.
The event promises to be an unforgettable night, as Franklinâs own five-time GRAMMY-winning musician Steven Curtis Chapman brings a variation of his The Music of Christmas Tour to his hometown. In December, Chapman is taking the tour to 10 select cities, adding Franklin to the mix with a special performance. Doors open at 6:15 p.m., and the show begins at 7 p.m.
âIâm excited to be performing at the first-ever âA Franklin Christmasâ in my hometown, Franklin, TN,â said Franklinâs own Steven Curtis Chapman. âNothinâ better, especially at Christmas, than getting to share the gift of music while giving back to the community that has given so much to my family and me. Being able to do what I love and help families right here in Williamson County makes this event especially meaningful.â
VIP tickets are available for $125, giving guests access to the exclusive pre-party at the Carousel of Dreams with hors d'oeuvres, beer and wine and a chance to take a photo with Steven Curtis Chapman. Second-tier seating is $75, and general admission tickets are $50.
Proceeds from the event will support The Circle of Givingâs ongoing work with four local nonprofit partners: FrankTown Open Hearts, which provides youth mentorship; Friends of Franklin Parks, benefiting Ellie Gâs Dream World inclusive playground; Hard Bargain Association, supporting affordable housing; and Needs of Our Kids (N.O.O.K.), which provides student resources.
đ Franklin Police on High Alert for Halloween
The Franklin Police Department is reminding residents to stay alert and make safety a top priority. Officers will have an increased presence across the city on Halloween night, focusing on protecting trick-or-treaters and keeping Franklinâs streets safe for everyone.
Increased Patrols:
Expect to see a large number of police officers in neighborhoods, business districts, and along major roadways throughout the evening. Officers will be watching closely for speeders, distracted drivers, and anyone driving under the influence. Extra traffic units will be deployed specifically to detect and stop impaired or unsafe driving.
âHalloween should be a night of fun, not tragedy,â said Franklin Police Chief Deb Faulkner. âOur officers will be out in full forceâkeeping an eye on both pedestrians and driversâto make sure everyone gets home safely.â
For Drivers:
⢠Slow down and stay alert, especially in residential areas.
⢠Expect heavy pedestrian traffic for several hours after sunset.
⢠Put away your phone and other distractions.
⢠Never drive impaired. Designate a sober driver or use a rideshare service.
For Trick-or-Treaters:
⢠Walkâdonât runâbetween houses.
⢠Look both ways before crossing the street.
⢠Use crosswalks, sidewalks, and traffic signals when possible.
⢠Stay in groups and make yourself visible with flashlights or glow sticks.
⢠Avoid dark houses and never enter a strangerâs home.
For Parents:
⢠Accompany young children while trick-or-treating.
⢠Inspect candy and discard any items that appear opened or tampered with.
⢠Stick to familiar, well-lit neighborhoods.
