Music City Loop, Primark, & More

Your guide to staying connected in Franklin, TN

Good Morning and Welcome to October.

According to several rankings, October is the most popular month in the U.S. It’s hard to argue against it. The air is crisp (hopefully soon), football is on, and the calendar is filled with festivals and fall traditions.

For those who didn’t know, today is also International Coffee Day, so don’t be surprised when the line is a little bit longer at your favorite coffee spot. October + Coffee Day = a perfect storm for pumpkin spice coffee fanatics.

Music City Loop Updates
As many of you are aware, Elon Musk’s Boring Company is pitching a 10-mile underground ā€œMusic City Loopā€ to connect downtown Nashville with the airport. Passengers would ride in Teslas through twin tunnels, with stations built above ground.

According to recent estimates reported by The Tennessee Lookout, the project is expected to cost between $240 million and $300 million — far less than the industry standard of $500 million to $1 billion per mile for two lanes. Company leaders say their in-house engineering operations allow them to build at a fraction of traditional costs.

Fitzgerald, the company’s chief of development, also addressed Nashville’s history of ā€œhellacious floods,ā€ promising that the tunnels would be waterproof, equipped with sump pumps, and paired with elevated stations. That’s good to know; otherwise, I was about to have a new fear unlocked: sitting in a traffic jam in an underground tunnel as water starts seeping through the cracks.

The proposal has backing from Gov. Bill Lee, the Chamber of Commerce, and Music City Center, though residents have raised questions about environmental impact and workplace safety concerns tied to the company’s Las Vegas operations. Boring has promised to fully fund the Nashville project, while also receiving free access to state-owned land and rights of way.

Primark Coming to Franklin
Primark, the international retailer offering quality fashion at value prices, announced today the upcoming grand opening of its latest store at CoolSprings Galleria in Franklin. This marks the second opening in the state after Primark opened its first store in Memphis in July, reaching new shoppers looking for quality, affordable fashion. After entering its 13th US state, Primark will continue its brand expansion with the recent announcement of four new lease signings across Florida, Georgia and its first entry into Minnesota.

Spanning more than 35,000 square feet, the new store will introduce Franklin and Nashville-area shoppers to Primark's signature mix of on-trend fashion, everyday essentials, stylish homeware, and beauty favorites for the whole family -- all at the unbeatable prices the brand is known for.

In preparation for the opening, Primark's Talent Acquisition team is searching for retail colleagues to fill full- and part-time roles. All available roles can be viewed and applied for on the Primark Careers Site.

To kick off the grand opening weekend, Primark will be rolling out a packed schedule of fun for the whole family starting Thursday, October 30. Shoppers can enjoy live music from a local DJ, exciting giveaways, and delicious local treats for early arrivals. On Saturday, November 1, the beloved character Bluey from the hit kids' TV show will make a special appearance at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 2 p.m., ready to greet fans and pose for photos.
