Tourism Records, New Restaurant Opening

Your guide to staying connected in Franklin, TN
Good afternoon Franklin. I hope everyone had a wonderful Labor Day Weekend. Welcome to September.
If you havenât heard, the Powerball jackpot for tonightâs drawing is $1.4B. The estimated cash value is only $634M. Tonightâs jackpot ranks as the fourth largest in Powerball history and the sixth largest for any lottery jackpot.
I love how everyone gets excited about the lottery when it exceeds a billion dollars â as if a measly $200M lottery winning wouldnât be life changing.
Research shows that lottery winners arenât happier in the long run and in many cases, are worse off than before (hedonic treadmill, sudden wealth syndrome, etc). But hereâs the good news: the biggest happiness boosts are free and fully in your control. Things like strong relationships, daily movement, quality sleep, gratitude, faith, and serving others raise joy levels far more reliably than a jackpot ever will.

Williamson County Sets Tourism Record with $1.37B in Visitor Spending
Tourism in Williamson County reached new heights in 2024, generating $1.37 billion in direct visitor spending -- a 3% increase from the previous year and ranking the county 6th in Tennessee. Nearly 8.8 million visitors contributed $3.74 million per day to the local economy, supporting over 9,000 hospitality jobs and saving each household an estimated $1,631 in state and local taxes. Spending grew across lodging, dining, recreation, retail, and transportation, with food and beverage topping $482 million. With strong momentum from leisure attractions, sports events, and conventions, 2025 is on track for even more growth.
Dog Haus Biergarten Expanding to Franklin This Fall
Hot on the heels of opening in East Nashville, Dog Haus Biergarten is bringing its craft casual concept to Franklin with a new 2,500-sq-ft location at Canteen on Carothers. Slated for an early November opening, the spot will feature a 700-sq-ft patio with fire pits, shuffleboard, cornhole, and prime views of live music and events from the pavilion. Guests can expect 24 craft beers on tap plus the brandâs signature lineup of hot chicken sandwiches, burgers, sausages, and Hawaiian rolls â all with Franklin-inspired design touches. Franchise owner Michael Deak also hinted at more Middle Tennessee locations in the years ahead.
